From the CD Higher Ground

I’m going back. I’m heading home, and I know the path I’m taking. I walk by myself, but never alone with every choice I’m making. And you can go there if you want to. You take your road. I’ll take mine. I wish you well with all you go through. We’ll meet again at another time. I’m going back. I’m heading home, and I know the path I’m taking. I walk by myself, but never alone with every choice I’m making. Every crossroad is an open door. And every stepping stone a gift. To open my heart and soul a little more, that’s the reason I live. I’m going back. I’m heading home.
From Higher Ground, released 2003.

Insider Notes

We all have the freedom to choose the direction we go in life, whether we blaze our own trail or follow an established path. I trust we all choose what’s right for us and do our best along the way. The mandolin and acoustic picking in this song remind me of the South, where I grew up, so I called it “The Bayou.”
