From the CD The Journey

I rose before the sun bright and early with a young heart and a curious eye. I’m gonna see the world in all its glory, or at least I’ll give it a try. So I sailed away on hopes and dreams of treasures I knew I’d find. After scorching days and stormy weather, and the ebb and flow of lives, so many hopes and dreams have long since drowned beneath what appeared to be the sea of time. But I knew I must dive much deeper for the doorway I’d yet to find. I lay my tired body down and I had a dream. The waves were cresting, cleansing, and the sea was rocking me. It was my Being through and through, and my heart swelled with endless blue. So I rose before the sun bright and early with an open heart and a curious eye. Now I’m gonna see the world in all its glory ‘cause I’m seeing it with inner eyes. You see, I knew there was something much deeper, and much to my surprise that ocean of blue had been my teacher and it was there inside. Always, always… it was there inside. Always, always… you were there inside.

Insider Notes

Change seems to usher in new energy, often a breath of fresh air. After moving to Seattle I began playing around in open tunings more often. Several cool songs came including this one. It’s still one of my favorites from instrumentation and movement to the fresh perspective. I love the shift of the music at the bridge, like walking outside a room and re-entering it with a different perspective.
