A Unique Camp Experience Since 1935
After discovering Camp Nor’wester and the remarkable camp community, this song was written. The intent was to scratch the surface of expressing the essence of camp, and to offer a melody easy to sing as a potential sing-along. Music is one of the many staples of camp, and there is so much more.

Camp Nor’wester
March 14, 2017
In 2012, after a rigorous interview process, my partner stepped into the director position at Camp Nor’wester, a summer camp located in the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington state. This change of employment was the vehicle that brought me back to the Pacific NW, which I dearly love. As the job began, I became involved as a volunteer and was slowly introduced to the community and culture. What a beautiful community it is… ever growing and holding the vision of what camp stands for. It is an amazing place where youth become skilled leaders, compassionate citizens and advocates for nature. This only scratches the surface of the impact a positive camp experience can have on a person, and the good things going on there.
Very quickly, as I absorbed what the essence of Camp Nor’wester is to me, a song came forward. It describes activities and elements of the culture that have lasted for decades. As the melody and lyrics surfaced, I knew that it was meant to be sung as a group sing-along… with many voices and instruments, true to the nature of camp. Singing before and after most meals is one of my favorite aspects of camp.
If you have yet to hear of Camp Nor’wester, I encourage you to check them out. They have been around a long time and have empowered many people over the years. To learn more about their mission, philosophy and overview, visit their website. http://norwester.org/
The song, “Camp Nor’wester” can be heard on the new Set Me Free CD. I am happy to say that the finished product is supposed to be delivered sometime this week. I am super excited about that! As always, I will keep you posted on what happens next.
Thanks so much for your interest, love and support.

*The Delicious Morsel series were posts shared with those who supported the Set Me Free CD recording project by pre-ordering music, requesting custom songs, and making donations towards my fundraising campaign on Indigogo. I am so appreciative of this group of stellar beings.
