My friend, Patti Dobrowolski, approached me and said that she would like a motivating melody to play before her talks and workshops. She has a visual goal setting company called, Up Your Creative Genius. With African flavors, this song is upbeat and sure to inspire! Read more below.

Creative Genius
Dec. 6, 2016 – #1
Recently, I was talking to a friend about some of the fun experiences and unique features of the music on the soon to be released CD, Set Me Free. She said that I should be sharing these things. So, rather than keep all the fun facts to myself, I will set them free in bite sized posts.
During the fundraising campaign, I offered to write a custom song as one of the perks. Well, as it turned out, three different friends wanted custom songs! I wasn’t sure if the inspiration would come, but miraculously it did. Thank you, universe!
One request came from my friend, Patti Dobrowolski, who has a company called, Up Your Creative Genius. Her tag is, “Visual goal setting made easy for businesses, teams and you.” She approached me and said that she would like a motivating melody to play before her talks and workshops. And so the tune, “Creative Genius” was born.
I am a lover of percussion and world music, and I heard an eclectic flair in this song as it came forward. Since African music feels vibrant and full of life to me, and lifts my spirits, I held to that feeling. The final product is a song that abounds with lively percussion, trumpet and saxophone to pump you up!
This number is just under three minutes long, but it will definitely inspire you to custom create your world according to your own dreams. If you want a visual to go along with that, look up my friend, Patti. She’s easy to find online.
Patti, thanks for the custom song request and for the point of focus!
Cheers!

*The Delicious Morsel series were posts shared with those who supported the Set Me Free CD recording project by pre-ordering music, requesting custom songs, and making donations towards my fundraising campaign on Indigogo. I am so appreciative of this group of stellar beings.
“The creative element that Soul is, is the creative side of God in a sense, the divine spark. This is divinity in expression — something that creates for the good of all.”

Insider Notes
At the studio, Carey Rayburn (trumpet) and Eric Vanderbilt-Mathews (saxophone) came in mainly prepared to play on the song, “Becoming You”. Afterwards, Eric had about 20 minutes before his next appointment. Still he was able to put away his clarinet and offer a couple of amazing performances on saxophone for “Creative Genius”. Carey had more time and was able to finesse a seamless trumpet part to accompany him. Also, Gary Mula created an amazing lead guitar part reminiscent of Johnny Clegg & Savuka which I just LOVE! I added congas, shakers, woodblock, rhythm guitar and the result is a tune with a great groove and inspiring lyrics. Enjoy!
